LAUSD's Chief Information Officer is Soheil Katal, an enterprising, innovative, solution-focused IT leader, responsible for:
- Overseeing the technology architecture for the nation's second-largest school district,
- Supporting the district's core instructional mission with efficient, effective solutions, and
- Leading a diverse team of highly-skilled professionals who work every day to create more opportunities for the youth of Los Angeles.
Focus Ad Hoc Reporting
Focus is an ad hoc reporting tool will improve the experience of generating reports using data found in MiSiS.
IT Project Management
The Information Technology Division Project Management Office (PMO) offers project management guidelines and support to assist with planning, launching, and executing LAUSD technology projects. Tools and resources are available at this site to help ensure project documentation is complete and accurate.
IT Security
IT Security provides guidance, direction, and governance for the protection and preservation of the information under the care of the Los Angeles Unified School District, ensuring its confidentiality, integrity, and availability and thereby positively affecting the reputation, value, and performance of the District.
IT Support Services
Formerly IT Finance and Administration, IT Support Services sets administrative policies and ensures ITD business practices are aligned with District policies and comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
My Integrated Student Information System (MiSiS)
MiSiS is a modernized all-in-one student information solution that provides students, families, and educators information on LAUSD students' unique education needs, demographic information, progress toward graduation, and more.

Everything we do in the Information Technology Division is aligned to priorities set by the Board of Education, Superintendent, and is in concert with industry, state, and national standards.
- Meet the student information needs of schools and offices by providing a functional My Integrated Student Information System.
- Extend ITD’s service delivery model to provide excellent IT support to schools and offices.
- Actively collaborate with offices, schools, and stakeholders to align ITD’s work to the District’s strategic initiatives.
- Strengthen ITD to better support the District’s modern technology needs.
- We have developed an action plan, timeline, and measures of success for each of these goals outlined in our 2015-16 ITD Goals document.
